Oodles of gorgeous subs for your voting pleasure!

I don’t consider myself to be a tough voter, but the fact of the matter is that there’s generally a lot of subs on Threadless that fail to win me over.  But not this week!  I just finished scoring several fantastic designs.

Up for your voting pleasure, a handful of my top choices:

The Odd Hand of Fate - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

The sheer amount of detail in this occult-based design is incredible, but what’s even more incredible is the quality of the detail.  The result is a big, bold print that’s not overwhelming (the lack of bright colors helps tone this down).  Every time I look at this, I see some new detail that I missed the time before.  Whether or not there will be an issue with copyright on the use of the Rider-Waite tarot card series (the artist hand-drew altered renditions of the cards) remains to be seen (I’m no lawyer or expert on copyright law), but regardless, this has earned a solid $5 from me.

My verdict: $5 (View submission)

The Big One Tells Me What To Do - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Another phenomenal sub from Slaterock.  Dark, bizarre and utterly fantastic.  I don’t have the foggiest idea of what’s actually going on here, but that doesn’t matter.  The color scheme has the same pop factor and color scheme as one of my Threadless guilty pleasures, Derby Of The Damned, but without the half-nekkid ladies, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your views on the scantily clad female form.

My verdict: $5 (View submission)

Citizen Cake - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

While this isn’t my normal cup of tea (or, rather, slice of cake) and the colors aren’t quite me, there’s something about this design that makes me smile.  Maybe it’s the gorilla hanging from the candy cane (a la King Kong), or the balloon animal lounging at the bottom of the design or maybe even the hand protruding from one of the cakes/buildings, proferring a triple-scoop ice cream cone, but, whatever the reason, this design is instant sunshine.

 My verdict: 4 (View Submission)

Mt. Rushmonster - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Who doesn’t love national monuments coming to life and rampaging through cities?  Not I.  The best part of this design?  Teddy Roosevelt’s tiny stature; resulting in his hanging, futilely attempting to help in the destruction by looking ferocious, several feet above the ground, while his fellow Presidents rampage through Washington, D.C.

My verdict: 5 (View submission)

Green - Threadless, Best T-shirts EverAnother beautiful, eco-inspired design.  Although Green is on one of the most reviled of all Threadless tee colors–the unassuming and (frankly) boring white–it’s beautiful enough to pull it off.  That’s not to say I wouldn’t like to see this on another tee color if it gets printed (and I hope that it does), just that it’s a rare design that has enough oomph to win me over in spite of being on white.  I fully admit that I’m often drawn to shirts sporting a deeper environmental message (Infinity MPG is a favorite of mine), but the fact that a shirt has just such a message doesn’t automatically win a nod of approval from me.  Green, however, is as beautiful as it is meaningful.

My verdict: 5 (View submission)

Brazilian Spirit - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Every now and then a design is submitted thats simplicity is at the heart of its beauty.  This is one of those designs.  It’s clean.  It’s colorful.  It’s beautifully drawn.  And the colors are gorgeous.  Brazilian Spirit proves that the subject matter of a shirt doesn’t have to be shockingly innovative, but that the execution and the final result can be just as important in making a design a winner (which I have faith that this design will be).

My verdict: $5 (View submission)

Big Rock Candy Mountains - Threadless, Best T-shirts EverEven if you’ve never seen O Brother Where Art Thou or heard Big Rock Candy Mountains (a folk song that predates the movie’s soundtrack), even if you never wear shirts depicting alcohol or cigarettes (only in writing in this particular instance), you may find yourself clicking “I’d buy it!” on the scoring page for the sheer fact that this shirt is adorable, well-executed and charming in spite of it’s slightly-off-the-beaten-track subject matter.  Whimsical and strangely charming.  This design is a definite winner in my book and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that it gets printed so I can buy it and be forced to wear it on the weekends (it’s definitely not within the bounds of the dresscode in the school I work at).

My verdict: $5 (View submission)

New releases to suit every taste!

Whether you prefer cutesy designs like Penguins On Holiday, strangely gorgeous Selects like Strange Birds, gratuitously violent tees like Cat Got Your Tongue or just want the answer to the eternal question “Where do hamburgers come from?”, you’ll find what you’re looking for in today’s plethora of releases.

And at $10 for regular tees and $20 for Selects! For those who avidly stalked the Thriftees, waiting for new tees to make a fleeting appearance, Christmas has come early. Get a crack at the new tees in your size without spending hours in front of the computer instead of Christmas shopping or spending time with your family.

My personal picks? I bought Penguins On Holiday and Strange Birds and was so close to buying How Hamburgers Are Made (I may be a dedicated vegetarian, but it made me laugh), but, alas, yellow looks terrible on me and it didn’t make the cut.

Mojie’s Size Comparison Blog Updated!

For those who have been following my size comparison blog, I’ve finally managed to add:

* A Small hoodie photo for size comparison

* A hoodie size comparison picture similar to the tee comparison to the left, showing XS, S and M hoodies

* A comparison picture showing Girly L vs. Girly XL vs. Guys S

 * Information and photos on washing shrinkage (cold water, no drier) in tees and hoodies

And, of course, if anyone has any suggestions or size information requests that I can fill (i.e. requests that don’t involve a shirt size that I don’t currently have), don’t hesitate to leave a comment either here or in the blog and let me know!

Threadless Coupon Changes, Shirts Still Cheap

Edit: This is an older post. Check out all active Threadless coupons here

Hey kids. Just wanted to post an update to my earlier post about Threadless coupon codes and the sale. Jake reminded me that like all $3 off anything coupons, FACEBOOKCOUPON is deactivated during the sale, but you can still use COUPONITDOTCOM for $3 off any $15 or more order. (And look for an LT coupon after the sale…)

$10 shirts! $17 for 2 shirts! Crazy! ¡Vaya con dios!

(EDIT: Hey, look, Threadless makes a liar out of me twice in a row. Apparently it took them a bit longer to deactivate the rest, but all coupons are inactive during the sale. Still, $10 buck shirts. Comon.)

Pirates and ninjas and elephants, oh my!

If my Threadless submission instincts are to be trusted, this incredible design by Ellswhere is bound to be printed sometime in the near future:

Epic Battle - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

It has ninjas. It has pirates. It has ninjas and pirates battling to the death to determine who will reign supreme. Incredible color choices, gorgeous, lush detail and mind-boggling composition are what set this design apart from other attempts to settle the age-old debate. And these aren’t your stereotyped, cut and paste battlers, either. Each and every character in this design, be he pirate or ninja, is unique. There’s even a parrot! And a ninja who looks like he’s trying out the Wolverine look for a while (left-hand side, upper middle - look for the claws).

My verdict: $5 (I’d give it higher if I could.) (View Submission)

And, on another note, while Chris has already put his two cents in on this submission, I feel like it deserves another bump (and another mini review).

Continuing in the same vein as his incredible Select, In Oceanic Fashion, Slaterock has submitted another amazing piece of artwork for your voting pleasure: In Pachydermic Fashion.

Not only does this new submission have all the random charm of his Select, it has the added bonus of having an elephant in the design. Sharks and elephants and deep-sea divers, oh my! Does it make sense? Not in the slightest. But that’s the point. It doesn’t need to. Just the fact that it’s an incredibly detailed and gorgeously colored piece of artwork depicting two waifish ladies, dressed in the epitome of haute couture fashion, perched atop a rather snappily dressed elephant should be reason enough to love this design.

In Pachydermic Fashion (Submission, Verdict: 5 + Awesome)

In Pachydermic Fashion - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Slaterock sent me his freshly approved-for-scoring In Pachydermic Fashion design, a spiritual successor to In Oceanic Fashion, his absolute-crazy-hit Select.

The concept is whimsical and expertly executed, and you don’t know why but you wouldn’t mind wearing an elephant ridden by two deep-sea-diving women on your shirt no matter how it may invite the comparison.

I like that Slaterock kept the design fresh and took a different approach from In Oceanic, such that I could see it being printed, though I don’t know if any “sequel” shirt has ever been printed proper. (Edit: Staffell informs me that The Mystery of Mission 5 and The Madness of Mission 6 were the first “sequel”/spiritual successor prints.)

Verdict: 5 (View Submission)

And meanwhile, don’t forget about the amazing Holiday Sale going on as-we-speak! It’s hot hot hot.

Holy Effing $10 Shirts, Threadless Holiday Sale Is Like Whoa

Today, we explore what would happen if a 14-year old wrote our post titles.

That aside, if you haven’t checked out Threadless’ splendiforous Holiday Sale, you need to get over there. Some great designs like One Handprint of Nature and Splatter in D Minor will provide you with plenty of ways to drop $10 bucks. I’d go into great detail about the rest of the designs, but there’s just so much to gobble up, I’ll let you see for yourself what’s awesome.

What’s a better gift than a $15 or $17 shirt for your friend for just $10 bucks? That’s right: nothing. (Plus, you can use the coupon: FACEBOOKCOUPON for an extra $3.00 off! How crazy is that?!?)

Get to shopping!

Know your size with Mojie’s helpful size comparisons!

Threadless blogger Mojie has posted a comprehensive size comparison blog to help the ladies who tend to drift around in the Small sizes better make their decision. She manages to compare Girly Small through Large and a few hoodies to boot, all in a pretty nicely ceteris paribus comparison. (All the photos are consistent and useful.)
