No News Isn’t Always Good News

Apparently, the saying “no news is good news” doesn’t apply to us. I apologize that we missed the last two weeks of new prints and countless other tidbits. It wasn’t for lack of awesomeness on Threadless’ part, just a lack of time and energy on our end.

Nearly all of the newest designs and reprints are still in stock (a handful of them are linked above). The RUBBERDANPANTS coupon code is once again active so if you haven’t already placed your orders on the latest tees, use the code to save three dollars.

Once again, many apologies… you’ll definitely hear more from Chris, myself, and the other bloggers once our lives settle down a bit. In the meantime, happy shopping and scoring!

Where the hell have we gone?

Devotees, apologies. I know we’ve been very, very bad at posting updates lately. Unfortunately, I (as well as Ali) both had deaths in our respective families, within days, and are dealing with that out of town.

Bree has a job that has picked up in busy-ness. This means much less LT awesomeness. I apologize.

Here are some things coming up:

  • A new project by me & my gang. This will be out in a couple of months, but mum’s the word presently.
  • I’ll be visiting SkinnyCorp/Threadless next month, and will hopefully have all manner of behind-the-sceneisms to share with you!!!

That’s all for now. More as soon as I can, I swear!

Promote Your Subs Through Facebook

A technology savvy Threadless fan, leepaulmartin, came up with a handy little Facebook application for showing off and sharing your Threadless submissions.

For those of you who use Facebook, it’s a clever way to further promote your work. Click here to check out his blog about the app’s features and to try it out for yourself.

Have A Cup of Me (Submission, Verdict: 4)

Have A Cup of Me - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever I love surreal imagery when it comes to tee designs, especially when it involves a clever pun and excellent art. Have A Cup of Me is one such illustration.

I’m not sure how it fits into the Eagle vs Shark Loves Threadless competition since I haven’t bothered to read the contest theme/guidelines. Quite frankly, I’m rather tired of all the Loves competitions (so bear with me while I gripe about it). They used to be something special and worth mentioning, but now there’s so many happening simultaneously that it’s impossible for the casual Threadless-goer to keep up. The themes seem more gimmicky these days… less art inspiring and more like publicity stunts.

Competition complaints aside, this is a very charming design and original concept.

The Latest Garment Goodies

Iconoclast - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

The Select line has been under constant scrutiny since its induction. The pricer tees have found popularity in smaller fan groups rather than the general crowd. Lately, however, there have been some impressive offerings which everyone seems more pleased with than not. This week’s Select, Iconoclast, is particularly lovable thanks to its creative use of the entire shirt. This really raises the bar for Select artists and will hopefully push more designers to start thinking outside the box.

Six standard competition winners, five new Kids tees, and two reprints are also mixing it up over at Threadless. Keep readin’ for the skinny and an overload of linkage.

H2O's Sacrifice - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever What comes down, must go up… at least when it concerns the water cycle and evaporation. H2O’s Sacrifice is a lovely nature design which looks super nice on a hoody. (Too bad Threadless isn’t also in the business of making rain jackets.)

I don't want to grow up - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Anybody who has ever outgrown a wooden rocking horse like the one in this design, I Don’t Want To Grow Up, will truly understand why staying a kid is such an appealing idea. The charming design makes a cute statement on the Kids and Onsies sizes and a delightfully ironic one for the adults.

Fur Ladies - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Fur Ladies is a design that’s both slightly disturbing and really intriguing. I can definitely see PETA members sporting this proudly along with anybody who loves unusual imagery.

cryptozoology! - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Cryptozoology is “the search for and study of animals whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as the Loch Ness monster and the yeti”. Cryptozoology is also a very fun and imaginative tee design looking great for both kids and adults.

Pexe - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever A tiny ship attempts to bring in the sea’s biggest catch in Pexe. Two design colors were enough to bring this entertaining scene to life.

Queen Of Paradise - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Queen of Paradise adds exotic flair to traditional elements. It’s the type of summer design that I wouldn’t mind taking a siesta in. Although I’m not much of a fan of Khaki and Silver tees, the colors of the image really stand out vividly against the muted tones.

The two reprints, Mmmh.. Delicious and This Is Not A Pipe (a personal favorite of mine thanks to its surrealist art and Nintendo references), round out this week’s latest batch of garment goodies. The sale may be over, but somehow paying full price doesn’t feel quite so bad when the designs are this good.

Meditation (Submission, Verdict: 4 + Would Buy)

Meditation - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Mmm, mushrooms. I love ‘em. The frog is also cute, he looks so zen.

I’m not crazy about the symmetry of the vines and leaves… it seems to confine the image somewhat. Aside from that, it’s a pleasant design with good vibes.

Verdict: 4 + Would Buy (View Submission)

Summer Vacation Sale Extended Thru Today

Through the miracles of summer vacations, road trips, and the (cheating, but we won’t tell) Photoshop, the Threadless community completed the Wear in the World? challenge, and extended the Summer Sale through today! Gone are the cheesy road trip pics of often less-than-stellar tees, replaced instead by the solid designs we’ve come to expect. So, here’s the usual rundown of the last day of $10 tees:
The Elusive Chocolate Moose - Threadless, Best T-shirts EverElectric Jellyfish - Threadless, Best T-shirts EverIt makes TOAST!! - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Understanding Bird Song, as reviewed by Bree, finally made it to print. “Chirp” will never sound the same again. Swiss Army is quite clever, with its series of “gunerators,” and I’m glad to see an artist who took the time to get the shadows right. I adore the circular craziness of Ta$ty Mix, but can’t explain why exactly, though Tyrell got it right in the blogs: It does feel like a Select for $10.

Wingtips is awesome in a deliciously 80’s sort of way (who else had high-top L.A. Lights? Anyone? No one? In my defense, I was 5.) I was intrigued by Electric Jellyfish on the main page, then clicked through and realized that I can never, ever wear it. I still love the design, but it’s not me. It’s clearly found its niche (guys’ sizes are nearly gone), though *some* LTers would make some minor adjustments if they could.

[14:46] Chris: jellyfish would be *so* much cooler if it glowed in the dark

It Makes Toast! makes me miss playing The Incredible Machine and thinking the problems of the world could be solved with hamster cages and strategically-placed balloons. The Elusive Chocolate Moose looks… messy… in the most yummy of ways. If only the little birds on his back were Peeps… oh, if only.

Reprinted: Ninjas and Pirates Agree: Cowboys Suck (I always thought of Chuck Norris as a cowboy of sorts, so I have issues with this one) and Squeaked.

Just a few hours left to pick up $10 tees and discounted everything-else!

Gift Certificate Giveaway! Win $25 right-quick! Also, eBay for cheap $50 GCs!

I’m going to make this one simple so that you can get the GC in time for the last day of the sale tomorrow…

What’s my favorite Threadless shirt color? (Give me the Threadless color name.)

Prize? $25 GC. Leave a comment here and win it.

Rules? Only one guess per person. Use a real email address. If you (as the lucky winner) don’t reply by tomorrow at 1pm PST, I’ll give it to the next in line.

And comments are auto-moderated, so as to not spoil the fun. I’ll reactivate them as soon as we have a winner, which I anticipate will be very, very soon.

Also, I’m eBaying a $50 gift certificate with NO RESERVE. Watch the auction right here. It ends in three days, and you’ll receive it the second you pay for the auction. (It’s an easy way to save about $10 or so bucks, so think of it as free shipping!)

Oh, and buy your goods while they’re still cheap. While I haven’t been terribly impressed with the offerings, I picked up the sheep hair shirt for the hell of it.

EDIT: We already have a winner! The first guess, in fact. (Though we received six guesses in under a minute.) If you didn’t win, you can take a crack bidding on the auction:

There’s Something To Be Said For Simplicity

Adorable Disaster - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Do Not Jump Shark - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Revenge of Sushi - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Days four and five of the Threadless Summer Vacation Sale brought eight new designs and a hearty helping of reprints to the table. And for those of you who’ve been living under a rock for the last couple days, all regular tees are just ten bucks each for the duration of the sale.

I’ll admit that nothing out this latest batch has me clicking the “add to cart” button. I’m not sure if my tastes have changed, or if the intentionally trashy-looking product photos are just a turn off. The concept of fictitious vacation photos/stories is quite amusing, but their presentation doesn’t exactly make the shirts look attractive. The usual cast of models are stupendous enough without the distracting props and over-the-top accessories.

Anyhow, there’s plenty of older tees to reconsider now that the price is right. Check the stock chart for complete availability of both old and new.
