An Unhappy Shopper

Ryan will be writing up the new prints soon-ish. I decided to skip commenting on the new designs this week since I’m not exactly in a Threadless loving mood at the moment. I guess it’s true what they say: bad things come in groups of three. Here’s my beef…

  1. When my new Limb tee arrived in the mail a few weeks ago, I noticed that it was defective (the pink ink was slightly misprinted). No biggie… I sent it back and waited for the replacement to arrive. Much to my dismay, however, the new shirt exhibited the same exact problem. It’s not horrifically ugly or unwearable, but I would much rather have had the design as it’s shown on the website and how the artist intended. I have no choice but to wear it as it is since I don’t want to go through the whole process again just to receive a third misprinted tee.
  2. I was overjoyed when my new My Pet Human hoody came in the mail just before our cool weather moved on. That is, until I tried it on and realized that it was enormous. I ordered a medium, same as my other Threadless hoody, yet My Pet Human was considerably larger when compared to my other. I’ve already sent it back, paid $6 shipping, and I’m hoping the replacement size of “small” will actually be smaller.
  3. I found out the hard way that Threadless now processes Gift Certificate codes fully, then your Streetteam Points. So… if you combine both on a large order, your GC will be used up first and then the STPs will be used completely. The difference won’t be put back on the GC, the extra money will be wasted. GCs are supposed to have declining balances, but those once happy times now come to a halt when combined with STPs. I’ve lost $37 worth of GC money.

Up until this point, I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences with Threadless. I’m not implying that my own problems are in any way typical or commonplace. (At least, let’s hope such mistakes won’t become prolific.) The fact that I’ve always had such great service is part of the reason why I feel so disappointed now. I’ve come to expect an outstandingly high level of quality and fairness, but Threadless has failed to deliver this time around. I’ll continue to be a consumer of their products, I just need some time to brood while this barrage of unlucky events work themselves out.

My last order didn’t even come with a sticker. No, it’s not a big deal, but Threadless is appearing to be less and less the clever and fun little company they used to be.

I’ve received Threadless postcards, the requisite stickers (once I got three or four in one order), a pencil, and even a sticker for xtratasty.com. I’m afraid there’s a creeping blandness there, and it’s just starting to show up on the fringes of their business practices.

Sorry to hear that Bree. You try emailing them with all your issue as you just posted? I’m sure they’d probably refund you your wasted GC balance and maybe in throw in a $5 code or something for the wasted shipping? Last time I exchanged something I was told that the new shirts/sizes I was exchaning for were put on hold and would be sent out once my return arrived. Unfortunately there was a “stock” error and the shirt I wanted was not held so I just ended up with a refund.. but they did give me a $5 from the shipping costs.

Spanktacular - I’m not sure what’s up with the sticker thing… I haven’t received any for quite awhile myself. I agree that it’s fun getting little extras with your orders, even if it’s something small like a sticker or postcard.

pyralis - Yeah, they gave me a $5 coupon when I returned Limb the first time. (I ended up giving that coupon away in the haiku contest.) I haven’t contacted them about it being defective the second time, because if I sent it back again I’m afraid it would be replaced with another bad one or be sold out.

As for the GC thing, I had already contacted service and they explained the situation and how I ended up with $0 on them. They didn’t, however, offer to replace my lost money. I replied to the e-mail making it clear I wasn’t very happy, so I’ll just wait to see what happens.

That just totally sucks Bree. It’s hard for me to imagine that they’d just be like “tough luck” over $37. Thats quite a bit of money. Hopefully they will step up and make things right. Like you… I just assumed STP’s were used first and then whatever method of payment was used 2nd. Personally I plan to put off any new purchase unless they fix the issue. I hope others do too. Honestly, that could have easily happened to any of us.

I’m pretty sure that’s how they used to process them… since until now I haven’t had this problem. I’m almost positive that I’ve combined STPs and GCs before with money left over. That’s why I got so confused when this happened.

They were very polite in the e-mail, but that doesn’t really make up for the fact that I lost money. =/

Sorry about all this. We are working on the Limb issue as we speak. Send it back again and we will do what we can. Heck even put attn: ross on the package and i’ll take care of it.

Not sure about the hoody sizing. We did just switch to out own cut but our specs are pretty simillar to the hoodies we used to use.

As for stickers and postcards just wait til next week, we are throwing something in each order that is totally wild and koozie!

I’m just going to keep Limb… you’re out of stock in mediums by now and I’ve already washed and worn mine. I’d rather have a slightly defective one than none at all. Thanks anyway.
