Break Open Your Piggy Bank, New 12 Month Club Tee Announced

Fish and Water - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Thankfully, Threadless is giving us a bit more of a warning this time around for their latest 12 Month Club tee. You have until the end of Thursday to join the club if you’d like to receive December’s shirt, “Fish and Water”.

If I had $200 to spend, I would join in a heartbeat. Huebucket has quickly become one of my favorite Threadless artists and this particular design is nothing short of fantastic.

Bubble Chickens (Submission, Verdict: 4)

Bubble Chickens - Threadless, Best T-shirts EverThis design has me reminiscing about video games. The chickens bear resemblance to the charming hens of Harvest Moon, as well as the angry poultry in Ocarina of Time. I think the hand draw look and bright colors adds to the gaming nostalgia.

I’m not exactly sure how these “Bubble Chickens” fit into the Fast Food Nation Loves Threadless competition (because, quite frankly, I don’t have time to keep up with the seemingly endless parade of Loves competitions at the moment) so I’m scoring this independently from the contest and whatever restrictions it implies.

As a stand alone design, it’s throughly adorable and looks right at home on a shirt. I relish their determined expressions and the happy gaming memories it stirs within me.

And The Sale Just Keeps Going

Illumination - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

Two new tees and reprints for the 11th and 12 days of the $10 Holiday Sale? You bet.

As a Threadless Select tee, Face Basics isn’t exactly ten bucks as the sale implies. You will, however, get a nice discount (five dollars off) on what Selects usually go for.

The extra spooky design Illumination was yesterday’s new design. It’s also printed on cozy brown hoodies.

The new reprints are: She Doesn’t Even Realize (printed on gold, this time around) and the delicious Type Tee slogan “Meat is Murder. Tasty, Tasty Murder“.

That’s it for now. Over the coming month expect continued updates on new tees, a return to more submission reviews, and possibly a contest with a very unique prize.

Moskit (Guest Review - Submission, Verdict: 5 + Would Buy)

moskit - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever This is an extra special review thanks to my friend, Ryan Biesemeyer. (Creative Director behind Bies Design Studio and just a generally cool person.) Perhaps we can persuade him into joining the LT ranks in the near future. For now, here’s Ryan’s thoughts on this tasty design:

I don’t know if you’ve had the pleasure of a wander through the swampish creekways in an Alaskan midsummer night (because your uncle’s raft sprung a leak, no less), but this submission brings me right back. Its about the size of one of ‘em, giving that nervous shifty-eyes glance, hoping he can fill up before he gets the *SWAT*.

Seriously though, this has to be the best mosquito illustration I’ve ever seen - this coming from a kid who has seen hundreds of shirts, keychains, hats, and stuffed animals ’skeeters claiming to be the Alaskan ’state bird’. From the bulging beak to the blood filled eyes and the translucent wings, funkyflow got it right.

Verdict: Solid 5; definitely would buy. (View Submission)

Another interesting News tidbit that will concern both consumers and designers alike, is the 5+5+5 Competition. I won’t waste my typing since you can read all the juicy details on their original news post by clicking here. After all these awesome surprises just within the first ten days of the sale, I can hardly wait to see what’s in store for us over the next twenty.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, everybody!

Sixth Day, More Tees, And The Nintendo Wii!

Watch The Snow Fall - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever Watch The Snow Fall is the new tee for the sixth day of the $10 Holiday Sale. I’m happy to see this one making it to print since we’ve favorably reviewed several designs by the artist. This one is particularly adorable and you can’t go wrong with stylish black tees and long sleeves.

blow with the wind - Threadless, Best T-shirts EverMeanwhile, Blow With The Wind is making a quick comeback via reprinting. (Although only in kids sizes and hoodies.) The design is simple yet chic, giving it a nice broad appeal… definitely a good gift possibility for the approaching holidays.

I was planning to find a few designs to review this evening, since all anybody has been concerned with lately are new prints, but regrettably I have to cut my blogging short. As any self respecting Nintendo fan should know, tomorrow (November 19th) is the official U.S. launch date of the Wii. I’ll be waking up painfully early to ensure I score a good spot in line and the chance at being one of the first to own the revolutionary system.

If you have similar plans, be sure to check the handy Wii Seeker page before heading out. Just type in your zip code and it will supply you with the Wii inventories and locations for stores in your area (Target, Walmart, GameStop, Best Buy, etc.). Good luck and be safe!

$10 Holiday Sale Still Going Strong

Home Is Where The Heart Is - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

The third, forth, and fifth days of the $10 holiday sale have sped by. For those of you who blinked, here’s a little recap on the new designs and reprints:

Wednesday brought us Happy Harvest, a delightful design complete with bunnies, smiling raindrops, and loads of colors just perfect for the autumn season. It’s printed on natural for girls and guys and white for the kids.

The clever Coat of Arms tee made its first appearance on Thursday on creme for girls, khaki for guys. I’m a bit surprised they didn’t go with long sleeves on this one… although as a short sleeve tee, you’ll be able to wear a foxy coat over it like the one in the product photo.

Today’s new print (featured above) is Home Is Where The Heart Is, a special Ross Zietz Select tee. It’s not included in the sale, but the coolness of it [almost] makes up for the price tag. The design is printed on a silver polo, the likes of which we haven’t seen at Threadless in recent memory. The real appeal of the shirt comes from the randomness of the design itself, however. The birds peeking from the faux pocket come in six color variations which will be randomly shipped. It’s definitely an interesting concept. (And in a moment of foresight, Threadless decided to note that you can not return the shirts due to bird color.)

Last but not least, the latest three reprints are Calling Home, So far this is the oldest I’ve ever been, and Pillow Fight.

And before wrapping this up, just a word of warning to the patient: Processing times are delayed due to the magnitude of such a big sale and certain sizes/designs are going fast. If you see a tee you like and want it in time for the holidays, I suggest that you place your order soon.

In and Out

Thank the soft, cottony heavens for Bree who has been holding down our little shirtcentric fort here. Again, crazy apologies for being pretty darn absent. In the last four weeks, I’ve been to Detroit, New York, Chicago (though for a four-hour layover), and Seattle. And a plane I was on stopped in Denver and Salt Lake, if those count.

It’s been a busy month, and I just got back from an “unconference” called Seattle Mindcamp—a nerd lockdown for 24 hours featuring ad-hoc sessions of bloggers, Googlers, Microsofties, and Amazoners and a bunch of other people far smarter than I. I just got back today, and I’m trying to get on top of everything before I leave again on Saturday for my rescheduled 7-day cruise.

Que locos.

I also noticed there’s a fantastic, 30-day little sale going on. This means increased reprints of your favorites, lots of stock, and maybe a chance at receiving your order before the new year! (I haven’t received mine from two weeks ago yet, I don’t think… But I missed an Economist around the same period of time. Hrm.)

Anyway, I’ll be a bit more sparse. Things are busy at my company, but I do want to get some time to sit down and write cool stuff, I swear.

Thanks for stopping by still, and thanks to Bree for being le awesome.

Ten Buck Tees For Thirty Days!

$10 Holiday Sale Ho-ho-holy crap, it’s a $10 Holiday Sale at Threadless! And not for two days, not even just a week… but for an entire 30 days. Better yet, reprints and new shirts will be added daily.

Lost A Wheel, Motovino (also in hoody form), and Haikus are easy… are the three reprints for today. Some Choices Are Just Out of Reach is the new print and deserving winner of The Last Kiss Loves Threadless competition. I happened to favorably review this one back in September, by the way.

If the sale craziness wasn’t enough, they’ve also posted a “Threadless 365” contest. The winner gets one of every single tee printed in the upcoming year of 2007 (including reprints) which is over 550 tees. Head over to the Loves page and look in the column on the right hand side to find the “count me in” button. Click it, and you’re good. If entering just once isn’t enough for ya, just buy a tee, hoody, or long sleeve from now up until December 13th. Your name gets put into the pool an additional time for each purchase raising your chances of winning.

If you plan on gifting any tees for the holidays, there’s also now a handy gift buying guide. You can choose from what type of person you’re buying for, to what category of tees they might like. This will certainly help out for those tough-to-buy-for folks on your list. (And with that contest going on, we all might be a bit more generous with our shirt giving than usual!)

“Flores para Você” (Submission, Verdict: 5)

Flores para Você - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever This is absolutely lovely. The detail, the colors, the balance of elements… it’s perfect.

I can’t quite decide which placement I like best as they both work well. But whether centered or wrapped, this beautiful design most certainly deserves a five.

Freedom Is What We Seek (Submission, Verdict: 4)

Freedom Is What We Seek - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever I want to apologize for the lack of reviews lately. As you may or may not know, October was a bad month for Chris and now he’s off doing a bit of traveling. My own excuses involve loads of homework mixed with an unhealthy dose of procrastination.

Even if I don’t have time for lengthy comments, at the very least I’ll try to toss a few links up this week to some submissions I find interesting. This design, in particular, is quite stylish. I usually don’t go for the splattered/messy types of images containing birds, yet something about this just drew me in.

It could use a bit of work… perhaps some different size options (since that would be a heck of a lot of ink as is) and a bit more flow from one end to the other, as one commenter suggested. But areas of possible improvements aside, I really do like it.

Look And Feel Hot With Threadless Hoodies And Long Sleeves

Musical Meditation - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

As if an extremely awesome batch of designs weren’t enough for this week’s print, Threadless has finally brought back their torso warming hoodies in addition to long sleeves. The price tag is a bit steep on the hoodies at $40 each, but all that extra fabric is sure to keep you toasty throughout the winter months.

If you can’t spring for a hoody but still want the warmth, try the reprinted Caged now available on girly and guy long sleeves for the reasonable price of $25.

I’m ecstatic that Musical Meditation, featured above, is one of the lucky hoody/shirt combinations. I’ve been hoping for quite a while that this would make it to print… I reviewed the original submission with gusto and also pegged the artist with a designer watch back in September.

One other new design, Goldilocks And The Three Beers, is also rocking it out simultaneously on a hoody and a tee.

Selects and Type Tees seem to have taken a break this week, so the other three printings are: Unusual Gentleman, Memories, Sweet Memories, and I Hate Japanese Food. (Mentioned in passing only for lack of time, not for lack of awesomeness.)

Head over to Threadless to check ‘em all out!

For those of you who’ve been living under the proverbial rock for the last few weeks, the Faest/Select shirts are unique designs by artists featured in the ultra hip and up-and-coming magazine called Faesthetic.
