We used to post about Loves competitions fairly regularly, but with so many going on at once these days it's a little tough keeping up. (Which has its pros and cons, but that's a discussion for another day.) The Submarines Loves Threadless competition began on the 1st, yet already we're seeing a handful of superb designs in the running. This one is no exception... it's a nice interpretation of the theme "peace and hate" without being painfully obvious. It also brings up nostalgic childhood memories, something a lot of people can connect with. The detail is exceptional as well. My only grievance is the way the lower right-hand side of the illustration looks boxy. Everything else about the design is very organic and finished... then the image just sort of stops. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. Oh, and be sure to visit the competition info page (use the links below) because Threadless is offering a free download of The Submarines' song Peace and Hate. It's a lovely tune and will certainly help get the creative juices flowing if you're having trouble with the theme.
